Fall has brought out a new wave of telephone scammers.
State Police troopers at the Calumet Post remind you never to give out banking or personal information to anyone who calls on the phone.
Recent complaints involve a caller who asks for money on behalf of a friend or relative who has been arrested, or has been injured in a crash. Don’t believe them.
Additional complaints have been received about callers claiming they are with the Internal Revenue Service, and are requesting personal information as part of a fraud investigation. Don’t believe them, either.
Never give any personal information to someone who calls on the phone. Hang up, and call the State Police.
