The public is invited to enjoy Winter Trails Day on Sunday, January 15 at Swedetown Trails in Calumet, Michigan. This year along with record-breaking snow, the Swedetown Trails Club is celebrating (and showing off!) their new trail groomer.
The groomer became a reality for the 2016 winter season thanks to generous contributions by many individuals and help from three separate grants from the Keweenaw Community Foundation. Through KCF’s Herman Gundlach Fund, the club received $5,000, the KCF Cross Country Skiing Endowment supplied an additional $2,500, and the KCF Environmental Endowment Fund provided $1,500 toward the purchase of this important piece of equipment.
So come out for Winter Trails Day, see the new groomer, and enjoy:
- Free all-day pass for skiing or snowshoeing (pick up any time after 10 a.m.);
- Free snowshoe or ski rentals provided by Cross Country Sports of Calumet;
- Free hot chocolate and apple juice from noon to 5 p.m. at the Chalet;
- And get advice from Swedetown Trails Club members on trails for beginners or participate in hourly guided snowshoe hikes.
