Suspected Meth Lab In Marquette Township

A suspected meth lab is now out of business in Marquette Township.

On June 10th, approximately 7:30pm, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team was called to assist State Troopers from the Negaunee Post at the scene of a suspected meth lab at the Whetstone Apartments in Marquette Township.

When the state police arrived, they found the suspect, a white male, had been burned, when a chemical reaction caused a small fire in the bathroom.

The suspect was taken to UP Health System Marquette.

The Marquette Township Fire Department assisted at the scene, and the fire was contained to the suspect’s apartment, with minor damage to the bathroom.

Since items used in making meth were discovered, Marquette’s County Health Department got involved, and evacuated all apartments in the building, and tenants were not allowed back until the health department cleared the area.

The investigation remains ongoing.
