Susan Kerry has been named senior vice president for administration and chief financial officer at Michigan Technological University.
Kerry is currently the vice president for finance and chief financial officer at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She will assume her role at Michigan Tech on June 1, 2019.
“With more than 20 years of higher education experience, Sue brings the necessary expertise to help Michigan Tech successfully navigate the rapidly changing financial landscape of higher education,” said Michigan Tech President Richard Koubek. “I would especially like to thank Dean Johnson and the search committee for recruiting such an outstanding candidate. We are fortunate to have a leader of Sue’s skill and business acumen join the University.”
At the College of St. Scholastica, Kerry was responsible for leading the college’s overall direction of business and financial activities, including information technology, institutional research and facilities management.
Prior to joining St. Scholastica, Kerry served as associate vice chancellor of finance at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Kerry received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s School of Education and her master of business administration degree from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
“I am honored to be joining Michigan Tech at such a pivotal point in its history,” Kerry said. “This is a time of tremendous contribution through applied sciences, impacting sustainability and technological changes in our society. I am energized by the strategic direction being undertaken by University leaders and look forward to teaming up with faculty, staff, students and our community partners to move the University toward the realization of these goals. The campus planning, support services and resourcing of these objectives will be a primary focus of my work.
“I have a tremendous love for this region of the state, which has always been a fundamental part of my life,” Kerry continued. “I thank the campus community for making me feel even more at home here and I look forward to working with all of you to position our students to take a leading role in changing our world.”
