Chassell resident and Michigan State Trooper Steve Laux, has filed necessary paperwork to run for Houghton County Sheriff in the August election.
Laux is retiring from the State Police after 25 years on the force next month, and would like to take over as Houghton County’s top law enforcement officer.
When asked what people could expect with Steve Laux as sheriff, he had this to say.
Mr. Laux would revisit missing persons cases in Houghton County, open a cold case division and bring in an additional K-9 team. Mr. Laux would also push for a new jail.
