The state is also preparing to give out free overdose treatment kits tomorrow.
Nearly 52,000 doses of naloxone in the form of NARCAN nasal spray have been sent to participating pharmacies. Naloxone is safe to administer, and can save the life of someone experiencing an opioid overdose.
Kits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis tomorrow at the pharmacies at UP-Health System Portage’s Hancock campus, Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse, and Walmart in Houghton.
Residents can pick up a kit at at no cost, with no need for a prescription, insurance, or identification.
