The State of Michigan is providing financial support for a business expansion at the Houghton County Airpark.
Great Lakes Sound and Vibration plans to purchase and remodel the former Goodwill Training Center.
The 23-year-old Houghton-based company provides acoustic, shock and vibration solutions for the defense, marine, automotive, and off-highway and recreational markets.
The company is planning to invest $1.475 million, and hopes to add 20 jobs. Franklin Township is providing a tax abatement, and the Michigan Micro Business Development Program is kicking in a $144,000 grant.
The Airpark site was chosen over a competing location in Wisconsin.
