Stanton Township Man Arrested After Pointing Loaded, Stolen Rifle At Deputy

A Stanton Township man is facing charges after he allegedly pointed a stolen rifle at a deputy.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of someone peeking into a window at a camp in Stanton Township Sunday evening around 8:40pm.

The suspect left the scene in a vehicle and was located a short distance away at another residence.

The suspect then pointed a loaded rifle at one of the deputies before they were able to get the firearm away from him without any injuries.

The 36-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Houghton County Jail on multiple felony charges. His name has not been released.

The rifle was identified as being stolen from a residence in Portage Township last week.
