Spring road restrictions are now in effect on all state trunk lines in the Upper Peninsula. That includes highways with the “US” and “M” designations.
Restrictions on local roads in Houghton, Baraga, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties took effect last Tuesday. Load restrictions are designed to limit road damage while the ground beneath the pavement thaws. They will remain in place until the roadbeds stabilize.
Local counties do not post signs regarding load restrictions, but do enforce them. For more information, click here.
