The three Houghton Snowbots middle school robotics teams that competed at the First in Michigan Tech Challenge state championships over the weekend ran into some stiff competition.
Each took part in six matches, using small robots that they built themselves to pick up and stack blocks in what’s called a “skyscraper” competition.
The Snowbots Silver team fared best, winning three of its matches, and placing 18th out of the 36 teams.
The Snowbots Blue and Red teams each won two of their six matches. The Blue team finished 24th, and the Red team 29th. The competition was held in Battle Creek.
It was the first time the Copper Country had three teams qualify for the state championship. See full results from the meet here.
