Snow Provides Boost to Trails

Snowmobile trail grooming has resumed in many areas of the western Upper Peninsula, following the recent snowfall.

In the Keweenaw, totals early this week ranged from 4 inches in Herman and Watton to 8 inches in Kearsarge. VisitKeweenaw reports that Trail 133 still needs more snow for grooming to resume. The Brockway Mountain trail remains too icy to groom safely.

Eight to 10 inches was reported in the far western corner of the peninsula, with grooming underway there again, as well.

Another round of snow is scheduled to begin later today. The path of the storm is expected to track a bit south of the Keweenaw Peninsula, with 6 to 8 inches expected along the shoreline from Ontonagon to Copper Harbor, 8 to 12 inches south of M-38, and as much as 18 inches in western Marquette County.
