Sisu Shuffle Taking Place Saturday

Sisu is often defined as rugged perseverance–and that’s what it takes to get through a Copper Country winter.

So to celebrate the coming of spring, the public is invited to take part in the Sisu Shuffle, hosted by UP Health System—Portage.

The annual 5K run/walk will begin at the hospital in Hancock and Health and Fitness Manager Angela Luskin says the event will be held regardless of the weather. “We always see this, too, as the start to spring–kind of a good kickoff to the spring and to the great summer that is coming ahead and just a great way to be out there and be active,” said Luskin.

The event is untimed and participation is free.  You can pre-register online or come early the morning of the race.

Luskin says the Sisu Shuffle usually draws anywhere from 300-500 participants per year and is a good time for the whole family. “It’s always a fun event to get out and get moving,” said Luskin. “What I love most about this one is you usually have a ton of kids because we raffle off a couple bikes, so that’s always a big draw.”

The event begins at 10am this Saturday. To learn more details and sign up, click here.
