Sister March In Houghton To Support Women’s March On Washington

To coincide with the Women’s March on Washington this Saturday, a local Sister March will be held on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.

The goal is to express solidarity with the marchers in Washington D.C. in support of women’s rights.

Organizers are also focusing their message on incoming President Donald Trump, who they feel has made disparaging remarks about women and whose agenda will reduce access to services for women.

They are also marching to show support for minorities, Muslims, the LGBT community and others who they say have come under attack.

The demonstration will begin on the Houghton side of the Portage at 2pm.

Similar rallies are taking place across the nation.
