Funeral services have been announced for former Hancock Mayor James Martin, who passed away Thursday at age 84.
Martin was a Hancock native who joined the U.S. Navy following his high school graduation. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant, while serving on five different submarines. After leaving the service, he worked in the aerospace industry, and played a key role in the testing of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
In retirement, Martin returned to Hancock, where he operated an upholstery business. He served as the city’s mayor from 1999 to 2004.
Services for Jim Martin will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Read Martin’s full obituary here.
