A second candidate has filed paperwork to challenge 38th District State Senator Ed McBroom in the upcoming Republican primary.
Kayla Wikstrom submitted her paperwork with a $100 filing fee Wednesday, according to information published by the Michigan Secretary of State office. Her application says she’s from Perkins, in Delta County.
A Facebook page describes her as a “Christian Mom Wife Conservative Constitutionalist Republican…. in that order” (sic). That page refers viewers to a Facebook group for more information; however, that group is private, and not open to viewing by the general public.
A Google search revealed no campaign website.
Wikstrom joins Matthew Furyk of Marquette in running against McBroom, who drew criticism from right-wing activists after chairing a legislative committee that discovered no significant fraud in Michigan’s 2020 presidential election.
