Second Largest Career Fair in Michigan Tech’s History

With 368 recruiting organizations registered for the 2018 Fall Career Fair, Wednesday’s fair will be Michigan Tech’s second largest career fair to date.

“We welcome back our returning corporate guests and are excited about new recruiting organizations that will quickly become old friends,” says Career Services Director Steve Patchin. “These new partners range from enhancing agricultural production, to building Apple products, to constructing river tunnels.”

Michigan Tech welcomes thirty-six new organizations to the Fall Career Fair. First-time participants Foxconn, Corteva Agriscience, Autocam Medical, and Soar Technology do business in product production, agriculture, medical devices and computer software. Additional industries represented include legal & law enforcement, investment banking, automotive, environmental services, and computer networking. Construction and manufacturing employers account for fifteen of the thirty-six new registrants.

STEM-based colleges and universities across the country are seeing a similar trend in growing collegiate career fairs. The Colorado School of Mines saw its largest fall career fair in Mines’ history with 360 recruiting organizations in attendance last month, compared to 230 companies in September 2015.

In keeping with Michigan Tech tradition, the Huskies Pep Band will offer valet parking for registered company reps from the main entrance of the Student Development Complex, and WMTU 91.9 FM will be broadcasting live from the SDC lobby.

Career Services thanks the campus community for their continued support of career events, and Patchin invites all, particularly students, to attend career fair, “We encourage our students to come explore the vast variety of careers their Michigan Tech education will open doors to experience.”

The 2018 Fall Career Fair runs from noon to 5 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room and Wood Gym of the Student Development Complex on Wednesday, October 3.
