The search for the next president of Michigan Technological University continues with the Presidential Search Committee (PSC) reporting progress. Search Committee Chair Bill Johnson and Vice Chair Brenda Ryan, both members of the University’s Board of Trustees, report the search committee and search consultants from Storbeck/Pimental & Associates continue to collaborate and they appreciate the contributions from the University community.
Throughout the process, the committee has held community updates regarding the progress of the presidential search. The next community update meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 22 in Memorial Union Ballroom A2 on the Michigan Tech Campus. The meeting is open to the University community and local community.
Previous meetings of the PSC and the search consultants were held on Dec. 14, Jan. 9 and Monday, Jan. 22. Discussions included recruitment progress from the consultants, a review of the process for Round One interviews and development of the PSC’s list of candidates for Round One interviews.
In a letter to the campus community, Johnson and Ryan wrote that participation of the PSC is critical and essential to the search process. “While we remain committed to a collaborative, transparent, inclusive and legally compliant process, we also remain diligent in protecting the confidentiality of all applicants in order to attract and retain the most qualified candidate pool possible. The Board of Trustees and the PSC will continue to follow best practices for executive search processes in the competitive higher education market.”
The Presidential Search Committee, with the search consultants, will meet Tuesday, Jan. 30, for another recruitment update and planning for the next phase in the search process. The next Focus Group meeting is Feb. 22.
