Residents in the Houghton—Portage Township School District are seeing the money raised from the recent bond proposal put to work.
In the Houghton High School newsletter, School Superintendent Doreen Klingbeil listed the items that were completed over the summer.
Among them were new lockers and benches in the Middle School Gym locker rooms, new lockers in the Middle and High School hallways, replacement of 9,600 square feet of ceiling tile…upgrading of the Emergency Generator, upgrading the outside lighting to LED, security upgrades, and replacement of the roof.
The High School also got new carpet, upgrades to the parking lots and the new Elementary Schoolhouse road was completed.
Work is not done—next year’s projects include upgrades to the bathrooms, replacing windows, upgrades to the auditorium and a covered canopy at the elementary school.
Plus, work on the athletic complex continues.
