Roelof to Lead Baraga County Board

Bill Roelof is the new chair of the Baraga County Board of Commissioners.

Roelof takes over for longtime chair Mike Koskinen, who was defeated in his bid for reelection in November. Gale Eilola will serve as vice-chair.

At an otherwise quiet meeting last evening, the board welcomed new members Will Wiggins, who takes over Koskinen’s former seat, and Lyle Olsen, who replaced retired commissioner Bill Menge. A number of appointments were made to various boards and commissions.

The board eliminated the insurance benefit that had been offered for commissioners, and approved the contract with MD Contracting for Phase Two of the pathway project at Pointe Abbaye County Park. Work will be done this summer.
