For the second year in a row, the Mom Prom Keweenaw is sold out as more than 200 women get ready to rock the red carpet at the Rozsa Center this Friday.
The 5th annual fundraising event features an evening of food, drink, and dancing, with a silent auction and a few surprises
Since 2015, Mom Prom Keweenaw has raised funds to assist local families offset adoption costs, which can range in the tens of thousands of dollars.
The group is made up entirely of volunteers who work together to reduce the adoption cost barrier for a Keweenaw family.
Over the past four years, generous donations received from local businesses and individual donors have resulted in almost $20,000 donated to four local adoptive families.
In the months leading up to this year’s event, Mom Prom Keweenaw has distributed $2,000 to two new recipient families and hopes to raise an additional $5,000-$7,000 for these families on Friday night.
