ReStore Under New Management

Copper Country Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian Van Sickle as the new manager of the ReStore and Jim Wilson as assistant manager.

Brian Van Sickle has extensive retail and customer service experience and has supervised and trained hundreds of employees since he first began his retail career as the owner of a grocery store downstate MI at age 23. He had a strong desire to move back to the Calumet area where he has family and where he owns a house within sight of the ReStore. He has completely remodeled his old house in Calumet, purchasing many of the construction materials at the ReStore, so he is very familiar with the store’s operation.

Jim Wilson will be the full-time assistant manager, a job he has been doing well for the last few months. He has the day-to-day operation of the ReStore well in hand.

The Copper Country Habitat for Humanity board of directors is confident in the abilities of both Van Sickle and Wilson to continue to grow the ReStore going forward. Goals specifically highlighted by the board are to fine-tune inventory procedures, increase donations, and increase the pool of ReStore volunteers.

The ReStore opened for business in November 2008 with Joseph Mihal as the store’s manager. Mihal is responsible for getting the ReStore up and running, overseeing all operations, and increasing sales and donations every year.  Copper Country Habitat for Humanity board members and members of the ReStore Oversight Committee are deeply grateful for his constant and innovative stewardship of the ReStore enterprise for the past ten years and wish him well in his retirement.
