Reserve Your Table For Crafting For A Cause

You can still reserve your table for a great crafting event in Calumet that helps victims of domestic violence.  Crafting for a Cause takes place this Saturday at the Siskiwit Reception Hall (26070 Pine Street, Calumet) from 10am to 6pm.  Proceeds go to support the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home.

Shelter Director Mary Niemela says this event is similar to one that started downstate in Mount Pleasant.  “That started off when a woman down there was killed by her husband in her workplace parking lot and her friends formed a foundation to support shelters and they’ve chosen two shelters in the U.P. to help and one is ours and the other is in the Sault Ste. Marie area. So, we thought we’d do one of the events that they do down there,” said Niemela.

The event will also feature several demonstrations throughout the day–plus lunch, a Kids Krafting Korner and a craft rummage table, which Niemela says was a big hit last year.  “We raised, I think, $347 just from people putting money in a jar and taking other people’s rummage—which is some people’s treasure, we all know—and so if you have any crafting items of any sorts that you want to donate to that table, bring it with you when you come.”

The cost is $20 to reserve a table for the day or $10 just to come for the demonstrations.  Call 337-5632 or email bkghome@pasty.net to reserve a table space.
