Starting today at 4pm, Hancock Representative Greg Markkanen, along with Lt. Governor Garland Gilchrist and Attorney General Dana Nessel, will participate in a virtual town hall meeting, reminding Upper Peninsula residents of the importance of the 2020 Census.
Of the U.P.’s 15 counties, only three have gone over 50% in terms of responding to the Census.
Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties have a lot of catching up to do, as they are more than 18% behind 2010’s participation totals.
The virtual town hall was originally a public forum, but was switched to online, to maintain Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order.
