Representative Greg Markkanen is in favor of restarting Michigan’s economy through a regional, safety focused approach.
Markkanen, along with other House republicans released a blueprint to help move the state forward, based on risk factors, which vary by region.
A task force would be established to determine which counties could have restrictions eased more quickly, when it’s safe.
Markkanen said “Now that the number of COVID-19 cases has started to drop off, we need to have a well thought out plan in place to help people return safely to their normal lives.”
The task force would use a three tier system, to allow counties to open businesses and try to regain what was lost during the pandemic.
Counties hardest hit by the virus, would be in a tier with the tightest restrictions, while less affected areas, would have loosened restrictions.
The task force would also help decide which jobs could be safely resumed.
