Reindeer viability forum still open for registration; attendance fees reduced

HANCOCK — There are still seats available at the reindeer herd viability forum that is taking place Monday, January 28 at 12 p.m. at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock.

Interested folks can now attend for a total cost of only $15 – which includes lunch. Along with the tasty meal, participants can hear from a reindeer herder from Finland, as well as experts from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, to determine whether reindeer herds can be established in the Copper Country.

Advance registration is appreciated and can be made by calling (906) 487-7549. The reindeer viability forum is a joint venture between the City of Hancock’s Finnish Theme Committee and the Finnish American Folk School, and is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation.
