Preparations are underway for this year’s Bridgefest celebration.
The annual festival will once again include both sides of the Portage Canal after two years of construction on the Hancock side.
That means the Bridgefest Parade will cross the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to kick off the festival…and leading the parade will be the first-ever Bridgefest 5000.
“Five minutes before the parade, there’s going to be a 5K race running that starts at the same place as the parade and the runners are going to run the parade route ahead of the parade,” said parade organizer Dave Crowley, who asks that those planning to take part in the parade register in advance.
Crowley said, “The line up works so much easier when everybody can just come and they got their map. If they follow their instructions, all they got to do is come and find their numbered stake and pull in there is very little confusion.”
