Regional COVID-19 Death Toll Climbs

Four more western Upper Peninsula residents have died from COVID-19 and its complications.

All four recent deaths occurred in Gogebic County. They are included in the Western U.P. Health Department’s most recent summary, which was released last evening.

Since the previous report was released Monday night, 83 more confirmed positives and 33 new probable cases have been reported across the five-county region. Houghton County had the most new confirmed positives, with 30. Gogebic County had 25, Baraga County had 19, Ontonagon County had nine, and Keweenaw County had two. 82 more confirmed recoveries were also reported.

The western and central Upper Peninsula remain the hardest-hit areas in the state.
