Refunds And Premium Waivers Coming To Michigan Drivers

Governor Whitmer along with Department of Insurance and Financial Services Director Anita Fox, announced Fox has directed auto insurance carriers to begin issuing refunds or premium waivers to Michigan drivers as a result of less driving during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Whitmer said “Michiganders have been staying safe and staying home and they should see the benefit in reduced auto insurance rates during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Insurers have until June 10th to submit filings that include the refund or premium waiver amount, and how consumers will receive them.

The savings are in addition to any other savings resulting in the upcoming changes to Michigan’s auto insurance law, which kicks in on July 1st.
