Cure, Not Care—that’s the slogan for the Spinal Cord Society, an international organization for cure research and treatment of spinal cord injury and related neural problems.
That’s something Tim Elmblad knows about first hand.
Tim broke his neck in an automobile accident in 1979, he is now a quadriplegic, confined to a wheelchair.
But he doesn’t let that slow him down. Tim has been working at his brother’s sawmill as a cutter for 17 years.
“You just got to get up and do it,” Tim said. “My mom, her friend, my godmother, my brother, my sister and my brother in law—I’ve got lots of help.”
Tim is helping to raise money for the Spinal Cord Society through a raffle with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward medical research.
All of the prizes have been donated including a few handmade items from the sawmill.
If you want a ticket for the Spinal Cord Society raffle, you’ll want to act fast. The drawing will take place here at the Elmblad Sawmill in Skanee on Monday at 3pm.
Tim hopes that you do. “Cause I want out of this wheelchair,” he said.
