The Radio Results Network delivered a semi truck full of donations to Dee Stadium Friday to help with the flood relief effort.
The 53’ trailer was packed full of supplies collected in Escanaba and Marquette to be donated to flood victims in the Keweenaw.
“Bottle water, non-perishable food items, paper products like paper towels and toiletries, shampoos, soaps, cleaning supplies, shovels to help clean up some of the damage, some fans to help dry some stuff out—really just a wide range of things,” said 94.9 The Bay Program Director Corey Lane, who said their donation drive also helped raise $5,000 to be donated to the Flood Relief Fund at the Portage Health Foundation, appreciated by Executive Director Kevin Store.
“This is just fantastic! Not only the monetary donation, but the other materials that you guys brought up, just what a great show of love and support for our community and we thank you for that,” Store said.
So far, several thousands of dollars have gone to purchase equipment for the volunteers cleaning up after the storm.
Additional money will be provided to help replace furnaces and water heaters and to help home owners recover from the damages and reduce health risk factors, like mold.
All of the contributions coming into the fund will be used here in the local community.
