Another tourist season has come to a close for the Quincy Mine and this year’s presentation is being called a success after implementing the theatrics of Michigan Tech’s Theater Company.
Tom Wright of the Quincy Mine Hoist Association said, “It’s getting bigger and better every single year—more effects, more ghouls, more goblins. There’s always unusual things happening here at the Quincy Mine and Hoist Association.”
Students from the Visual and Performing Arts assisted in last year’s production. After an impressive performance by actors and sound engineers, the students earned themselves a full hands-on role for this year.
MTU’s Trish Helsel said, “And they’re really excited to be back. This time they needed some faculty support and other resources, which we are providing them.”
Although the tours have ended for the year and won’t resume again until the spring, the gift shop remains open through the holiday season, offering souvenirs and special Copper Country gifts until the week of Christmas.
Gift Shop Hours are: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 12 – 6:00 pm until December 22nd.
