Local hockey historian and Michigan Tech professor Bill Sproule will discuss “Pucks and Guts,” focusing on local hockey and Guts Frisbee history, at a presentation next Tuesday.
The discussion will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Museum in Houghton.
The talk will include the unveiling of 12 historical banners celebrating the two sports, part of a Michigan Humanities Council grant that was awarded to the Calumet Colosseum.
Also as part of the grant, a new kiosk and website have been developed to guide people to the various hockey and Frisbee photos and memorabilia in the Colosseum.
The kiosk is located in the lobby of the Colosseum near numerous local hockey photos.
The second-floor ballroom is home to the International Frisbee and USA Guts Hall of Fame and memorabilia from around the Frisbee world.
Links to additional history sites for the two sports are also featured on the kiosk and its website pucksandguts.com.
Pucks and Guts is made possible in part by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
