The annual Pasty Fest celebration takes place this Saturday in Calumet.
The festival includes the Pasty Parade, entertainment, kids games, a horseshoe tournament, a pasty eating contest, the Pasty Bake-Off, a classic car show, vendors and much more – including plenty of delicious pasties.
Main Street Calumet Executive Director Leah Polzien says the public is invited to help choose the winner of this year’s best pasty. “You’ll have four or five 4-ounce pasties,” she said. “They will each be specially marked with a fancy toothpick of various kinds and you figure out which of those pasties you think tastes the best—they will each be from a different business—and after you choose which one you like the best, you keep the toothpick from that pasty and turn it back into us.”
Activities begin at noon along historic 5th Street in downtown Calumet.
