Primary Election Day 2020 is over and we have the results.
In the 1st Congressional District Race, Dana Ferguson has defeated Linda O’Dell, 65%-34% and will go on to face incumbent republican Jack Bergman.
In the 110th District Race, Houghton’s own Janet Metsa dominated with 72% of the vote.
She’ll square off against incumbent republican Greg Markkanen in November.
Other big news out of Houghton County was the 79% to 21% vote on the Lakeshore Advisory, which sent a message to the city council, to give the public a bigger say in the sale of the parking deck.
The sheriff’s race saw incumbent sheriff Brian McLean defeat retired State Trooper Steve Laux.
He had this to say once the dust settled.

McLean will now face Democrat Ann Newcombe, who got enough write-in votes to make it to the November ballot.
Paul Lehto, Jeff West, David Yeo and Robert Zander made it to the Calumet Township Board of Trustees.
All the proposed millage renewals passed, most of them with overwhelming majorities.
In Baraga County, Joe Brogan defeated Jim Gabe in the race for Sheriff, and Lyle Olsen is your new commissioner for the 4th District, having defeated Burt Mason and Cindy Larson.
The big news out of Ontonagon County was Dale Rantala winning the race for Sheriff over Matt Weaver by a 3-1 margin.
John Karvonen is the new Road Commissioner in Keweenaw County as he bested Richard Schaefer 59% to 41%.
