No one wants a disaster to take place on the campus of Michigan Tech, but local emergency responders are taking steps to be prepared in case one does.
A full-scale disaster exercise will take place Thursday from 4 to 8pm primarily in the main SDC parking lot, but some exercise-related activities will occur on campus, including a mock evacuation.
Volunteers will be playing victims for EMS triage, victims to be taken to local hospitals, grieving families and evacuees.
Local media will play a role as well, taking part in a mock press conference asking questions as if the situation were real.
The public is reminded that they may see first responders and emergency vehicles around campus and that this is just an exercise.
