UP Supply Co donates $36,845 to the Portage Health Foundation’s Flood with Love initiative

[Hancock, MI] When the Father’s Day flood struck the Houghton County community, so many individuals and businesses stepped up to support in any way they could. Some of the Portage Health Foundation’s partners are Upper Peninsula Supply Company in Marquette, Michigan and Homestead Graphics & Design in Baraga, Michigan. UP Supply Co reached out to PHF and wanted to partner by doing a t-shirt campaign as their means of supporting the Flood with Love initiative.

In partnership with Homestead Graphics & Design in Baraga, they sent out over 1,900 orders and a t-shirt was sent to every state in the United States. Upper Peninsula Supply Co. wrote a check of $36,845.00. Along with their contribution, Homestead Graphics and Design donated an additional $550, outside of their t-shirt creation and production support, to the Flood with Love initiative.

“Sisu is part of the backbone of all Yoopers, and as the Copper Country flooded, it has been a testament to the resilience of Yoopers and their commitment to helping our friends, relatives, and neighbors in the Keweenaw,” said Bugsy Sailor, co-founder of the Upper Peninsula Supply Co. “The support poured in from all fifty states with people wanting to find a way to make a small contribution. As purveyors of the Upper Peninsula, we have always created products and campaigns that focus on creating community. This couldn’t be a better example, and it couldn’t have been done without several partners, including Homestead Graphics & Design, Mike Forester, Digs, Michigan Made, the Finlandia Bookstores, and most importantly, Yoopers across the country.”

So many groups came together to support the Houghton County community. It takes a village and that is what this group proved as they worked together to support PHF’s flood initiative.

“It’s amazing to see everyone come together to help in such a time of need,” said Joe Kayramo, owner of Homestead Graphics & Design. “That is what the U.P is all about! It’s been great teaming up with Upper Peninsula Supply Co and Digs Gastropub for such a great tee shirt campaign, and we will gladly keep producing shirts for people to buy to show their support. Huge thanks, to everyone who has helped out and supported the fundraiser!”

These partnerships are invaluable and helping PHF reach their goal of getting families impacted by the flood back into safe, healthy home environments. Thank you to this group of businesses that stepped in and offered a helping hand to the Houghton County community.
