Visitors to the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon County in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula this spring and summer will find dozens of waterfalls, from rushing juggernauts like Bond Falls to the calmer cascades nestled in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
Now, waterfall seekers have a chance to win a getaway to this secluded corner of the U.P. with a new photo contest launched this week by the Porcupine Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau (PMCVB).
The Feel the Rush Photo Contest asks visitors to take a photo of any of the featured waterfalls found in Ontonagon County and the Porcupine Mountains for a chance to win a waterfall-themed prize package.
Entries can be submitted via the PMCVB website or Facebook page. Entries will be accepted until July 9, when five finalists will be selected for a fan vote.
The photographer with the most votes overall will win a grand-prize package that includes $200 toward a two-night stay at a Porcupine Mountains/Ontonagon County lodging property, a copy of Waterfalls of Michigan (Book 4) by Phil Stagg, a Michigan recreation passport (for admission to the state park) and $100 in spending cash.
There are dozens of waterfalls to explore in the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon County, including well-known roadside stops like Bond Falls and Agate Falls, the trio of falls along the Presque Isle River and secluded falls that can be found in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Visitors can find more information about area waterfalls on the PMCVB website.
