Plea Deal Reached For Robbery Suspects

A plea deal has been struck for two men arrested for stealing firearms from a sporting goods store in Hancock last December.

Alexander Santiago (18) of Chicago–left; Juan Carlos Pereyra (18) of Florida–right

18-year-olds Alexander Santiago and Juan Pereyra pled guilty to one count of theft and aiding and abetting a theft from a Federal Firearms Licensee.

The pair were facing a trail in federal court.

Another felony charge of conspiracy to steal firearms was dismissed as a result of the plea agreement.

They were arrested, along with a third suspect, following a break-in at Northwoods Sporting Goods.

Three firearms and ammunition were later located inside a dorm room on the campus of Finlandia University, where the men were attending school.

Sentencing has been scheduled for November 8th.
