PLDL Preschool Reading Program Goes Online

The Portage Lake District Library’s popular 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program has gone online.

The project encourages families to read to youngsters, with a goal of reaching 1,000 books before they begin kindergarten.

Families can set their own pace. Along the way, kids can get a sticker from the library for every 100 books read. At the 500 mark, kids can get a free book. At the 1,000 level, kids receive a book bag and a certificate.

Until now, you had to register and report at the library. Now, you can sign up and track your progress online.
