People Are Dumping Household Garbage At Cardboard Recycling Center

Concerns over people disposing household garbage in the recycling area at the Houghton County Transfer Station–County Administrator Eric Forsberg informed the Board of Commissioners of the issue at Thursday’s monthly meeting.

Bags of trash are being thrown into the county’s cardboard recycling center.

Forsberg said he will talk to the county prosecutor to begin the process of setting up an ordinance against the dumping, along with a fine.

Forsberg said it should be easy to identity the culprits from evidence within the trash.

In other business, the board approved the compensation package for the road commission, voted to continue supporting the services of MSU Extension and discussed compensation for Commissioners for attending meetings.

Finally, the Board thanked outgoing Commissioner Eugene Londo for his two years of service on the board.
