Wrapped in a flaky crust, hot beef, potatoes and rutabaga or carrots—though the debate will never end–most people agree that pasties are delicious.
So it’s no wonder that we have an entire event to celebrate them—Pastyfest.
The 14th annual day of pasty love takes place in Calumet tomorrow with a street fair on 5th Street in the heart of downtown from noon to six and the famous Pastyfest Parade stepping off at 2pm on 6th Street.
Main Street Calumet Executive Director Leah Polzien says even if it does rain on the parade, the weather won’t stop Pastyfest this year.
New this year, you can be a pasty judge. The first 50 people to purchase a $5 mini-pasty sampler will be able to choose the best commercial pasty.
The event also features live music, a car show, horseshoe tournament and the pasty eating contest.
