Pasty Fest Celebration Tomorrow

One of the Copper Country’s most celebrated food specialties will step into the spotlight tomorrow, as Pasty Fest returns to downtown Calumet.

Main Street Calumet’s Leah Polzien promises there will be enough of the tasty treats for everyone…

You betcha – we’ll have thousands of pasties available.

Festivities begin at noon, and run until 4.

As many as 100 people can serve as judges in the Pasty Bake-Off. Purchase a sampler of mini-pasties provided by each of the competing vendors…

Then you taste each of those pasties, and you tell us which one is the tastiest.

Those packages typically sell out very quickly.

The pasty parade begins at 2…

We line up next to the Calumet Township Fire Department on Mine Street in Calumet, and then come right down on 6th Street Extension in front of IGA, and right into downtown Calumet past the post office.

Live entertainers will be performing along historic 5th Street…

We’ll have music at 5th and Scott, 5th and Portland, 5th and Oak, and up in the 400 block.

Activities for kids will include pasty-oriented games, and the event’s notorious foam party…

We have a giant bubble machine, and we will have that set up next to Calumet Floral on Oak Street.

Be prepared for your kids to come out soaking wet.

The Cool Cars from Near and Far car show will be set up along 5th Street, along with a wide selection of food and merchandise vendors.
