Sign-up is underway for the upcoming Parade of Nations.
The annual salute to multiculturalism has been held in the Copper Country since 1989.
This year’s parade will begin at 11 a.m. September 17. It will travel through downtown Hancock, cross the bridge into downtown Houghton, and end at Dee Stadium.
While the event is organized by Michigan Tech, and has traditionally focused on the international student population there, all community members are welcome to take part.
Any person may request a flag of any country they wish to represent. One flag and one sign will be provided per nation. Anyone associated with the nation is welcome to walk with the flag.
Groups are invited to enter floats, and there are cash prizes for the best three. Entries should complement this year’s theme, “The World is One.”
Volunteers are also needed to assist with preparations, and to help out during the parade.
