The Parade of Nations’ theme for 2022 is “The World is One.”
The annual event that salutes the diversity of international students at Michigan Tech and in the surrounding community will take place September 17th.
Student and community organizations are invited to enter floats or march in the parade.
A portion of the Multicultural Festival that traditionally follows the parade will return this year. International students will prepare food from their native lands. It will be served in a take-out format at Dee Stadium. There will be no entertainment, or other festivities, because of continuing COVID-19 concerns.
Middle school and high school students are again invited to submit designs for the event logo. The student whose artwork is selected will receive $300. The submission deadline is May 15th.
Last year’s Parade of Nations logo was designed by Emma Riita Moilanen, who was a sixth grade student at the Dollar Bay School.
Michigan Tech is also offering a $1,000 scholarship to MTU for an essay contest winner. Area high school seniors who plan to attend Michigan Tech should write about what multiculturalism means to them, and why it matters to them, their community, our country and the world.
