This year’s photos were taken October 2016 through September 30, 2017. Submissions were accepted from August 14 to September 30, 2017. Forty-two photos were submitted by 12 photographers. Photos were submitted from 3 NWC Natural Areas – Seven Mile Point, Merganser Pond, and Conglomerate Falls. Photos from the Gratiot River County Park were accepted into and judged in an added honorary category, The North Woods Neighborhood.

A window exhibit featuring the winning photos with the judge’s comments on each and a digital photo show of all 42 photos submitted to the contest, opened October 19nd at the Copper Country Artists Association Gallery in Calumet. If you are in the area before the end of the month, please stop by and view the exhibit.

Prints in the CCAA exhibit were prepared for display by Paul Grathoff of North End Framing; poster printing was by Copper Island Printing. Submission assistance for the contest was donated by Pasty.net. The contest was planned and implemented by volunteers. Poster design was by Chris Kelley; coordination by Ruth Mohr and John Dodge. Expenses were covered by funding dedicated to the contest and separate from land acquisition donations.
