There are currently no immediate plans to change the traffic light on M-26 outside of WalMart in Houghton.
City Councilmember Dan Salo asked Police Chief John Donnelly about installing a left turn signal at the light during their regular meeting Wednesday.
Donnelly said there has not been a rash of accidents caused by the light and the traffic lights on M-26 are timed to make it easier for trucks to get up the hill without stopping.
Installing a left turn arrow on the light may disrupt that timing.
The police chief will soon be meeting with representatives from MDOT on other matters but says he will not ask for a left turn signal at this time.
