Next Regional Roundtable to Kick-Off U.P. Brew Trail Study

An exciting initiative to promote the burgeoning U.P. craft beer and wine industry is slated for the next Regional Roundtable, the quarterly event of the Western U.P. Regional Chamber Alliance.

The event, which will kick-off a planning study to explore the feasibility of establishing a regional marketing program to showcase the U.P.’s beer and wine producers, will be held in Greenland on Thursday, April 26.

The Regional Roundtable will be held at Algomah Acres Meadery at 611 Plank Road, just off Highway M-38. Doors will open at 5:00 pm with the opportunity to enjoy appetizers, mead tastings, meadery tours, and networking. At 5:45 pm, a buffet dinner will be served with a brief presentation on the history of Algomah Acres and mead making. Finally, beginning at 6:30 pm,
representatives from the Western U.P. Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) and the Western U.P. Regional Chamber Alliance will lead a discussion on their plans to evaluate the potential of a U.P. beer and wine “trail” to help encourage regional tourism.

The study will seek input from U.P. breweries and wineries, as well as other key stakeholders, and will identify best
practices and funding sources.

As always, the Regional Roundtable is not for chamber members only; it is open to any community member interested in promoting the Western U.P. Any guest may attend any portion(s) of the program.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Erika Lindwall, Director of the Western Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Region Commission P.O. BOX 365, HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN 49931 906-482-7205 FAX 906-482-9032 , E-MAIL: info@wuppdr.org Iron County Chamber of Commerce, at erika@iron.org or (906) 265-3822 by April 19th.

A $15 cover charge will be applied to cover the cost of the event.
