Newly-Minted State Troopers Head to Calumet

Three new state troopers are joining the Calumet Post, following their graduation from the latest Trooper Recruit School.

Nineteen new officers were installed Friday, at a time when MSP Colonel Joe Gasper admits that relations between law enforcement and the community are at a low ebb…

At a time when solidifying a growing relationship with the communities that we serve is incredibly important, I am confident that, with your contributions and high standards, that we will continue to build on our reputation.

These new officers are different from former trainees, in that they have previous law enforcement experience. It’s the first time the MSP has held a recruit school for licensed officers.

The class includes Daniel Perrault of L’Anse, Rachel Roose of Painesdale, and Ben Ruohonen of Hancock, all of whom will be assigned to Calumet.

The next recruit school is anticipated to begin on June 26th, with graduation in November. The MSP anticipates more vacancies in its ranks soon, and is enrolling students for future schools. Click here for details.
