The man police say was drunk while driving the vehicle that killed a Newberry woman in a traffic crash last month has now been charged.
Nineteen-year-old Eric Wayne Edwards was arraigned Thursday in 92nd District
Court in Newberry on the charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death. He was released on a personal recognisance bond, with an alcohol monitor tether. He is due back in court January 12th for a probable cause hearing.
On the morning of December 18th, state police troopers were called out after the truck Edwards was driving veered across the centerline of M-28 in Luce County’s Lakefield Township. The truck hit an oncoming minivan head-on. Sixty-four-year-old Alice Nelson was killed. Edwards was treated for minor injuries.
