New Restaurant On Track To Open On Houghton Waterfront

A new train-themed family restaurant will open next year in the old depot on Lakeshore Drive in Houghton.

Roy and Trisia Narhi are in the process of purchasing the vacant Copper Range Depot building next to their other restaurant, Roy’s Pasties and Bakery.

The city of Houghton assisted in the acquisition of the building by submitting an application with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation through their Community Development Block Grant Program.

The MEDC awarded $605,750 for the project to go along with a personal financial investment of nearly $850,000 by the Narhis.

The grant requires at least 23 full time jobs to be created in the restaurant.

The plan is to put a restaurant on the main level, commercial office space on the second level, and residential apartments on the third level.

The restaurant would be open six days a week with breakfast all day plus lunch and dinner items–everything named with something train-related.

The Copper Range Depot restaurant is expected to be open by Summer 2019.
